Damyang-gun (Governor Lee Byung-no) announced that it had exported strawberries to Vietnam from the Bongsan Agricultural Cooperative Mountain Distribution Center on February 1, 2024.
This is the second export this year after Mongolia's (500kg) export in January, and Damyang strawberries are expected to expand their entry into the global market.
Damyang Strawberry entered the Vietnamese market amid growing interest in Korean food due to the Korean Wave.
This export item is Geumsil and Jukhyang, and in particular, Jukhyang, a variety developed by Damyang-gun, is captivating the taste of domestic as well as overseas consumers with its different texture and flavor from local fruits.
Damyang-gun is negotiating exports with other Southeast Asian countries on the occasion of Vietnam's strawberry exports, and is actively exploring overseas markets by promoting strawberry original seedlings to Dubai, Europe, and the United States in the Middle East.
"We expect that the export of Damyang premium strawberries will contribute to stabilizing domestic supply and demand and increasing income for farmers," said Lee Byung-no, head of Damyang strawberries by continuously expanding export routes
